Organizing plans: tags instead of folders
In upmesh, plans are not stored in folders. Instead, every plan gets tags, for example EG (ground floor), Floor plan and Architecture. Here you learn why this is faster on site, which tags your project already comes with and how to find plans in seconds. You find the plans in the project, in the menu on the left under Plans.
Why tags instead of folders?
With a folder structure you have to decide: does the ground floor plan go under Architecture, Ground floor or Detailed design? Every choice makes the other paths harder, or the plan ends up in several folders and suddenly there are different versions. With tags, a plan simply belongs to everything that applies to it. It exists only once, with exactly one active version, and you find it through any of those questions.
The tags your project comes with
New projects start with default tags in five groups, each in its own color:
Floor: KG, EG, OG, DG, TG, Foundations
Plan type: Floor plan, Elevation, Section, Site plan, Detail, Diagram, Wall plan
Discipline: Architecture, Structural design, Structural engineer, Specialist planner, Expert, Client, Permit/Authority
Phase: from preliminary investigation through detailed design to demolition
Building part: Main, Secondary, Garage, Exterior
In Enterprise projects, the start tags come from your company templates (company administration, section Templates for projects, entry Tags). This way all projects work with the same terms. The templates are copied once when the project is created; later changes to the company templates do not affect existing projects.
Assigning tags
One plan: open the plan, click the pencil icon, select tags.
In the table: directly in the Tags column.
Many plans at once: select the plans, choose bulk edit, set tags. Tip: right after uploading, select all plans from one plan supplier and assign, for example, Architecture and Detailed design in one step.
You need the right to edit plan details for this.
Impact on others: All project members who may see the plan can see its tags. Tags determine which plans appear in their filters and searches.
Finding plans
Tag icon at the top right: select one or more tags. With several tags you only see plans that have all selected tags. EG plus Floor plan shows all ground floor plans, no matter which planner created them.
Clicking a tag in the table sets it directly as a filter.
Search: also finds plans by their tags.
Your filters are saved per project. Impact on others: Filters apply only to you and do not change the plans.
Creating your own tags
In the project settings under Tags you create more tags or whole groups, for example Construction phase with BA 1 and BA 2. You need the right to edit project tags (Pro and Enterprise). Important: Tags that are already assigned cannot be renamed or deleted. Remove them from the plans first.
Impact on others: New tags are immediately available to all project members, including for tickets and files.
Tips for a good structure
One group per question: where (floor)? What (plan type)? From whom (discipline)? When (phase)?
Do not track the plan revision as a tag; plan versions exist for that: the active version applies, older ones remain accessible.
The plan number belongs in the title, not in a tag.
Prefer combining a few clear tags (EG and House A) over composite ones (EG House A).
The same tags also apply to tickets and files in the project.
Table: columns and settings
Click the three dots icon at the top right of the table and choose table settings. There you show or hide columns such as Tags and adjust their order and width. The same menu also offers Copy and Export. Storage: These settings are stored only locally on your device and do not affect other users or other tables.
