Welcome to upmesh – Getting Started
Great to have you on board! With upmesh, you have full control of your construction site at all times – from plans and tasks to documentation. To help you get started quickly, we will guide you through the most important first steps here.
1. Create an account
You can register in two ways:
With email: Enter your email address, first name, and last name. You will receive a welcome email with an activation link. Use the link to set your password and accept the terms of use – your account will then be active.
With Microsoft or Google account: If you log in via your Microsoft or Google account, your account is active immediately – no separate confirmation link is required.
Tip: upmesh is available as an app for iOS and Android as well as a web version. Your data is automatically synchronized, no matter which device you are working on.
2. Optional: Join a company
You can use upmesh immediately after registration – joining a company is not mandatory.
If you work within a company team, you usually belong to a company (your "headquarters"). The company is set up by upmesh or your upmesh partner for your company – you do not create it yourself. A company administrator will then add you as an employee and assign you a role (e.g., admin, user, or time tracker). If you are an administrator yourself, you can add further employees and manage their roles.
Do you (not yet) belong to a company? No problem – you can still create projects and get started. For company assignment, please contact your company administrator or the upmesh team.
3. Start your first project
A project is your digital construction site. Here is how you create one:
Tap on "New Project".
Enter a project name – this is the only mandatory field.
Optionally add a description, color, and project and construction periods (start and end date).
You can then enter the construction site address in the project settings. After that, you can invite team members.
4. Invite the team
A project thrives on collaboration. Invite colleagues and partners to your project via email and assign them a role. The invited person receives an invitation and becomes part of the project after accepting it.
By default, four project roles are available to you:
Project Manager: Full access including project settings
Employee: May view plans, tickets, and the team, as well as edit tickets
Subcontractor: Limited access to assigned areas
Observer: Read-only access
Each role bundles finely graded read and write permissions. If necessary, you can create your own roles with appropriate permissions, so that everyone sees and edits exactly what is relevant to them.
5. Upload plans
Upload your construction plans as a PDF (or image file). upmesh automatically renders them into zoomable tiles so that you can work directly on the plan. If you upload a new version, another plan version is created – the history is preserved, and you can compare versions with each other.
6. Create tasks (tickets)
With tickets, you document defects, tasks, and open items:
Create a ticket and give it a description.
Optionally add photos and a deadline.
Assign the ticket to a team member – optionally also to an inspector.
If it relates to a specific location on the plan, you can additionally locate it there using a marker – but this is not required. A ticket also works perfectly without plan assignment.
Every ticket receives a sequential number and a status (open, in progress, closed, inspected). This way, everyone involved can immediately see what needs to be done, and you maintain an overview.
7. Document the construction site
Record the progress in the construction diary: weather, personnel used, work performed, special incidents, and photos – day by day. Upon request, upmesh generates PDF reports from your data (project, defect, and construction diary reports) that you can send directly. This ensures you always have continuous proof in case of an emergency.
