What are Employee Groups?

On the Employee Groups page (Company → Employee Groups), company admins can organize a company's employees into groups. Groups make managing larger teams easier, since roles and permissions can be assigned to an entire group at once instead of editing each person individually.

The Table

The table lists all groups of the company with two columns:

  • Name – the group name (sortable)

  • Quantity – how many members currently belong to the group (sortable)

Features (admins only)

  • Create a group – via the plus button (Fab) at the bottom right, option "Add group".

  • Import multiple groups via Excel – via the Fab, option "Excel": a list of group names is imported; names that already exist are skipped.

  • Edit members – the helmet icon opens a dialog to add or remove employees from the group.

  • Rename a group – via the pencil icon.

  • Set a group as default – via the group icon. New or not-yet-assigned employees are automatically placed in the company's default group.

  • Delete a group – via the trash icon, after confirmation. The company's current default group cannot be deleted.

Employees without the admin role see the table read-only; all other roles do not see this page at all.

Adjusting Table Settings

The table's settings icon lets you choose which columns are shown, how wide they are, and in what order they appear. These settings are saved per user and persist the next time the page is opened.

Impact on Other Areas of the App

Changes made on this page also affect areas beyond the Employee Groups page:

  • Removing a member from a group automatically moves them into the company's default group – so a member cannot be removed from the current default group without a destination group.

  • Changing the default group affects, company-wide, all new or not-yet-assigned employees.

  • In a project's team section, whole groups can be assigned to a project with a specific role at once. Changing a group's members here therefore also changes those people's permissions in every project where the group is used.

  • Deleting a group removes the group assignment and can affect project-level role assignments that are based on that group.
