Page description

On this page you manage the categories your team members can use to classify files (photos, documents) uploaded in the project.

You find this page in project settings under the "Categories" tab.

Who can see and edit this page

Viewing requires regular access to project settings. Creating, renaming and deleting require the "change project file categories" write permission of your project role. For that a project manager license is required.

Creating a category

The round plus button in the bottom right opens the create dialog, where you enter a name. The name must be unique within the project.

Effect on others: a new category is immediately available for selection to all project members — when uploading files, in the file filter, and in the report dialog.

Renaming a category

The pencil icon on a table row opens the edit dialog. Important restriction: if the category is already assigned to at least one file, renaming is refused — with no way to force it. You must first reassign all files with this category to a different one before you can rename it.

Deleting a category

The trash icon lets you delete a category after a confirmation prompt. The same rule applies: if the category is still assigned to at least one file, deletion is refused with no way to force it. Reassign all affected files first before deleting the category.

Effect of changes on other pages

This project's category list is distributed immediately to all project members and is available for selection everywhere files are categorized — when uploading, in the file overview's filter, and when creating reports (which can filter/group by category). Since renaming and deleting are only allowed for unused categories, existing file assignments always stay consistent.

Table: columns and settings

The table shows: category name, and the number of not-deleted files assigned to it. On the right of each row you find the edit and delete actions.

Changing column settings: click the "⋮" icon (three dots) in the top right of the table and choose "Table settings". There you show/hide columns and adjust their order and width. The same menu also offers "Copy" and "Export".

Storage: these settings are saved locally on your device only and do not affect other project members, or other tables elsewhere in the app.
